Explain India’s foreign policy and how did it change and what are they trying to
reach?
 The foreign Indian policy is concerned with the initiated policy towards other
world’s states courtesy of Modi government, which is the current government of
India.
 The basic goals of Indian policy is to establish a strong social-economic
transformation in India via peaceful means and ensure that people in the country
relate well. In specific, there are three key goals of the Indian foreign policy.
I. Preservation of independence and territorial integrity of the foreign policy
in India: This goal is aimed at ensuring that India is protected from
external aggression; it is highly related to the hard time India went through
to gain her independence.
II. Promotion of international security and peace: Being independent and in
her developing phase, India has realized the importance of peace in
relation to development. She has secluded herself from military alliances
with an aim of maintaining peace.
III. Indian economic development: India has always been thirsty for fast
development since her independence in order to strengthen freedom and
democracy (Dormandy, 2007).

 Strategies for Indian foreign policies which form relationships with China and
The United states include; conventional security through the building of strong
army forces, focus on economic growth, assurance of energy security,
nonproliferation and nuclear capability and prestige security (Dormandy, 2007).

 India is trying to accommodate the good relationship with the US. considering
that they have similar challenges and goals, they, however, have to protect their
relationship with China as well.
 India is not ready to actively compete with the US in terms of nuclear weapons
and the military. However, considering that the two nations are facing similar
security challenges such as terrorism, India must do better than the US since such
challenges are more crude in India. Due to their location, India is also more likely
to face nuclear proliferation; She has, therefore, invested a lot in military and
nuclear weapon development(Dormandy, 2007).

2. Why a rising China and a dominant United States could be headed towards a
violent collision no one wants?
 China is currently experiencing a rapid growth in their economy to an extend of
threatening the US economic position given a few years. Fears are that, with the
growth, China might come up with an assertive and more expansive foreign
policy which could lead to unavoidable conflicts and war with the US.
 Nevertheless, the war could not emanate from China’s growth, but rather from the
US unwillingness to let go of their economic and military dominance among the
neighbors of China. Political scientists think that the US is constantly intruding
into China’s affairs and always has the intention of going against the interests of
China.
 Additionally, both China and the US have invested a lot in nuclear weapons; with
such a condition, it is hard to dismiss the fact that something more than the
vocally assured mutual destruction between the USSR and the US could take

courses. With current development in weaponry technology, power shift cannot
be expected without war (Glacer, 2015).
3. Are China and the US Doomed to conflict
 Considering the economic ambitions of China, it would be correct to state that
China will find itself colliding with the US. Current approximations indicate that
China will economically overpower the US in a few decades. The US does not
seem to acknowledge the growth of China, they instead view China as a threat
and their replacement.
 However, there is an opportunity for the two nations to choose between war and
peace. The two nations can ensure peace by coming up with strategies of
establishing a future together.
 According to history, theprobability of war conflict is higher than that of peace
since ancient uprising power have always conflicted with ancient established
powers. Furthermore, the Chinese have faced hard times in the hands of the
Western nations for them to consider co-existence with people of the western
origin. China has already come up with their own “The Chinese Dream” which
sounds similar to the US “The American Dream” (TED, 2015)
