Introduction
Brightpoint is the first private mother and child hospital in Abu Dhabi that is focused on
creating an optimal healing environment that provides a caring and emotionally supportive care
where patients enjoy the highest standard of care and comfort during their stay. The vision of
Brightpoint is to bridge the care given to patients and reduce the destinations through best
medical treatment. In addition, the hospital mission is to understand and create a better health
cover in the country that supports both mothers and children to reduce the mortality rate. The
strategic objective of Brightpoint hospital is to attain the 2022 mission that was set by the
ministry of health in UAE. The mission includes use of IT to better the care of patients, use the
current technology to reduce mortality rate and ensuring that nurses undergo vocational training
on medical care.
Quality of Health Information System
According to Sittig and Singh (2010), the Health Information System (HIS) is an integral
part of a functioning health system that provides evidence for the policy program decisions to
support better health outcomes for individuals and for populations overall. The health
information system (HIS), also refers to a system designed to manage healthcare data where
(HIS) includes systems that collect, store, manage and transmit a patient’s electronic medical
record (EMR), a hospital’s operational management or a system supporting healthcare policy
decisions. Therefore, Brightpoint has utilized some of the components of the HIS framework
such as health information system resources, the indicators and the data management as
highlighted below.

Health Information System Resources
The health information resources are resources such as personnel, financing and
information and technology that are required for the system to be functional. Therefore,
Brightpoint requires stable and knowledgeable personnel that is in charge of the human resource
and keeps records that involve the hospital policy and projects to be completed. Moreover, the
financing team records information about all monetary matters that happen in the hospital and
they should be able to present information that is transparent and clear.
Indicators
According to Sittig and Singh (2010), indicators are tools that utilize the metrics that are
involved in the collection and recording of data and information. The indicators self-assessment
tool that identify strengths and weaknesses of the national HIS, identify priorities for
improvement, establish a baseline to monitor progress, and provide a basis for strategic planning.
Therefore, Brightpoint should establish the basic priorities that need improvement and have
strategic plan to ensure the success of running the hospital.
Data management
Data management covers all the aspects of data handling from collection, storage, quality
assurance and processing. Buntin et al. (2011), argues that, better health care is determined by
the readiness and the systematic arrangement of hospital data. Therefore, data management is
another framework that is exhibited in Brightpoint hospital that ensures quality services are
delivered. The data in the hospital is managed through storing in hard drives and collected by

nurses who keep in check that they are up to date so as to ensure better service delivery and good
organization.
Assess the Quality of Produced Information
Brightpoint sought to improve the quality of service delivery and medical attention
through assessing the quality of data produced. The information produced by the human resource
team ensures that the hospital has room for expansion; therefore, by filling critical capacity and
insurance gaps, improving education for health professionals, and increasing private sector
investment the hospital will improve health care. The data management team has produced a
detailed list and analyses of the hospital daily routine that they have collected. The financial and
the medical personnel’s have established that they are capable of the duty. Moreover, the data
sources in the hospital have been analyzed and the information produced explain that the storage
equipments should be encrypted to prevent lose of patient information and uttermost privacy.
Strategies for Improvements
Identifying a lead sponsor for health information system strengthening is among the
quality assurance that aligns with the hospital mission for better health service for women and
children. In addition, establishing consultation and coordination mechanisms that bring together
all key players working in health and statistics, and all producers and users of health data ensures
that the vision of the hospital to maintain better relationships with the people and provide quality
health care. Establishing a steering committee to provide ongoing monitoring of health
information system strengthening activities allows the hospital to improve their service through
various case study and research for service delivery and containment of treated diseases (Topol,

& Hill, 2012). The current HIS system lacks the capacity to hold large volumes of data right
from the entry tables to the storage parameters and this need to be improved.
Conclusion
Brightpoint hospital is on a mission to ensure that the health sector in the United Arabs
Emirate is improved especially when it comes to women and children. Therefore, the goal of the
hospital has been established by them posing as an example in leading in the fight for better
services and ensuring they observe the HIS framework. Hence the hospital mission is to
understand and create a better health cover in the country that supports both mothers and
children to reduce the mortality rate. The HIS frameworks include health information system
resources, Indicators, Data sources, Data management, Information products and Dissemination
and use. The frameworks are essential in determining the communication and data storage in
Brightpoint hospital.
