Poetry Reading and Writing

Through engaging in poetry writing or reading, one relieves stress or manages it by
narrating about a traumatic experience while expressing the feelings. Besides, I can process my
emotions, thoughts and, reflect on the issues that are stressing me out 1 . Reducing stress through
poetry is beneficial to me as it promotes my physical, psychological health, reduces the level of
anxiety, depression, and irritability and, promotes better thoughts that aid in proper decision

compose my poetry especially at night when the weather is calm, there is less noise from
vehicles, and there is little movement. I find this time great since I grab three-quarter of contents
and I have little distractions while composing the poetry. Majorly, when I see an interesting
piece of poetry that addresses a lot of stressful situations, I share it with my colleagues, we
analyze it and formulate a discussion out of it. While I am at home, I share them with my mother,
who assists me in understanding their deeper meanings.
My colleagues are helpful and aid in a more profound understanding of poetry. They are
supportive, and they love reading them as well. They think poetry is an excellent approach to
relieving stress as well as managing it. More so, my mother is a supporter of poetry work and has
a passion for writing; therefore, she feels it's a great way to utilize my free time and improve on
the emotional and physical health 3 .
