Introduction
Education is a significant global factor that has helped reduce the rate illiteracy across the
world; the UAE has made great strides in ensuring every citizen is able to acquire quality
education. Educational resources such as classrooms which provide the right environment, study
tools depending on the subject, and teachers are essential in creating a high-quality education.
The number of people studying nursing in the UAE has increased gradually showing a clear and
promising future in the healthcare industry, however, for the students to be productive in future
they have to access the best education system. Abraham (2019) explains that teachers play a
critical role in increasing the sustainability and quality of the education system in the country, in
my academic years I came across many types of teachers from elementary school to college.
Different teachers have different ways and techniques of teaching. The techniques have
to also work well with students since students also have a different understanding capacity and a
good teacher should be able to handle every student. My college tutor Madam Ally Marina
Hussain, is my best teachers; as a nursing lecturer, she has made learning easier for other
students in the class and me. Madam Ally has impacted a lot of students in the school; she has
received awards and praises from top nurses across the country who were once her students, last
year she received an award for the most influential academic tutor in the school and the dean of
the year.
Discussion
Madam Ally has a vast experience in teaching nursing; she a 36-year experience in
teaching; she has learnt the art of teaching and knows how to attract and keep students active in
her classes. She has a significant following of success as almost all nurses who have gone

through her in college are known experts in their work area, and they all have an excellent
success rate in taking care and treating patients. Due to this vast experience of teaching Madam
Ally has developed unassailable command on her subjects enabling her to know the full contexts
of what her learners need to learn and the time period in which one subject should be taught in.
Madam Ally has a great sense of humour which according to Peterson-DeLuca (2016) helps keep
students active in class; it is through this sense of humour that she can relate personally with
some of the students in her class. She has the highest sense of integrity, which makes her
approachable, unlike other lecturers, she makes a point of knowing each student in her class.
When she sees a student struggling in his/her exams, she ensures that she develops a close
relationship with them to give them a one on one talk on how to improve their grades.
Personally, she has motivated me to do better in some units that I had a hard time
understanding; she guided me and provided me with mechanisms and techniques that helped me
comprehend the unit better. She has strong collaborative skills and is an agile thinker; she is
always able to come up with solutions to issues that arise during her lessons. She collaborates
with other lecturers to help her students if there are certain concepts that students have a hard
time understanding she speaks to other nursing lectures which also deal with the same subject to
come and help students understand. Gencturk, Akbas, and Kaymakci (2012) indicate that a
teacher’s determination to support his/her student’s increases their learning morale and
motivation to work harder. In her class there are not good and bad students academically, she
does not believe in literate groupings and instead deals with all her students individually, she
involves each and every student in class during her lessons. She takes time to know the academic
strengths and weakness of each student who makes her association with students open and
familiar.

Madam Ally became a model teacher due to her unending devotion and dedication to her
students. Other lectures also come to her for help with their students increasing the desire and
need for every member of the school to work together. She is also the academic dean for the
nursing school, since her inception, the number of students graduating in the nursing school with
excellent and high-quality degrees has increased gradually. She has united the whole nursing
school making it one of the best and most successful in the history of the school, the school's
Vice-Chancellor has awarded several times as the dean of the year due to her immense success.
Her positive leadership has also promoted effectiveness, and personal performance among
lecturers under her. Teachers under her say they feel motivated to work harder and provide better
education to their students due to the level of determination Madam Ally has towards providing
quality education to her students and improving the nursing school.
As much as Madam Ally is loved among students and teachers, she has a high discipline
standard among students and teachers; she ensures that every discipliner case in her class is
handled effectively. She does not give harsh punishments or use a harsh tone while disciplining
students she is calm and understanding; she believes in listening to her students before taking
any measures against them. According to AlMekkawi et al. (2020), listening to students makes it
easier for the teacher to understand their concerns. She often states that making a mistake is not
an offence but repeating the mistake time and is the offence. Her teaching style is I believe the
most influential factor in her career; she has a different teaching style for other lecturers and
often chooses to change teaching roles. Subsequent to teaching, she appoints a few students in
her class to briefly discuss the topic; through this, she can impact certain learning facts to her
students. Students learning and teaching also get the opportunity the discuss the matter amongst
themselves, which increases their understanding learning ability.

Madam Ally has inspired a lot of students in the present and previous classes,
encouraging them to do the right in class, and outside, this has allowed many students to feel
comfortable and confident in the classroom. Her attitude towards students has increased my
desire to work hard and make her proud; I studied nursing because I want to help people,
however, because of her I also started picturing myself as a teacher. I want to create an impact on
people's lives, and Madam Ally has impacted a lot more through her student, by equipping them
with the necessary skills and knowledge they can serve patients well.
Conclusion
Teaching is a career that requires high determination and resilience; impacting
knowledge in students is not an essay and necessitates a lot of patience. Madam Ally has all the
qualities of a good teacher, and this has allowed her to positively influence a lot of nursing
students in the school to do better. I believe the efficiency of a teacher is not shown by the
number of students she can teach or his/her level of strictness, but the number of positively
influenced and motivated students. The motivation and inspiration stay with them forever, which
eventually makes them good nurses positively impacting the healthcare industry in the country.
