Introduction
McDonald’s started on as a brilliant plan in 1954. Since 1955, McDonalds has swollen with pride to serve the world with some of its most wanted food. And along the way, it has managed not just to live history, but create it: from drive-thru restaurants to Chicken McNuggets to college credits from Hamburger U and much more. It’s been fairly the journey, and McDonalds promises it customers that this is just the beginning-they’ve got there hearts set on making more history. McDonald’s is the leading foodservice internationally retailing with more than 33,000 local restaurants serving more than 64 million people in 119 countries each day. At the moment, it has more than 30,000 restaurants around the world. People have been enjoying the McDonalds experience from the time when we opened our first Irish restaurant in 1977 (Mieth , 2007).
Today, over 150,000 people enjoy great food in our contemporary, classy restaurants and Mc Cafés every day. Quality and well being of the customers is the center of everything that is done at McDonalds. As a result, they have developed strategies or rather policies to make sure that the food customers enjoy at McDonalds is safe to consume and are of the highest quality. Also McDonalds is working to make sure that its agricultural supplies are produced in a sustainable way.
The focus areas of McDonalds
McDonalds has always strived to have better tomorrow than it is today. This, more than anything, that speaks of McDonald’s is as a company. The overarching objective of there efforts that keep McDonalds going is focused on continuous enhancement through its five focal point areas: nutrition and safety, environmental responsibilities, employee’s know-how, sustainable supply chain and community.
Food policies
According to Mieth (2007), McDonalds have food policies where they ensure there customers are served with the best, freshest and tastiest food every time they visit a McDonald’s restaurant. So they have set up European quality assurance team develop systems that monitor food quality in every supply chain of McDonalds restaurants. Subsequently, food safety is a concern for everyone and McDonalds assures every customer that is its focus. McDonalds meets or surpasses the food safety standards as stated by the law in the preparation of there food and there suppliers must also meet strict criteria for food hygiene and safety at every stage of the food supply and production method.
Genetically modified products
McDonalds has taken action to its customers concerns on the issue of genetically modified products and ingredients and whenever possible in Europe they source for non-GM products and ingredients. Also they ask there suppliers to identify the source of non-GM maize or soya in feed for all there beef chicken, pork and dairy cattle. Even though some genetically modified ingredients are well thought-out to be safe and have been widely accepted, McDonalds always continues to respect its customer’s wishes in this matter.
Varieties and additions
McDonald’s is moving from awareness to accomplishment. Its aim is to have employees within our organization working and living to get to their full potential. McDonalds believes that leaders should hold themselves responsible for learning about, valuing, and being respectful to individuals on both sides of the counter. At McDonald’s, variety and addition are parts of its trend – from the team room to the Board Room. McDonalds is working to realize this aim every day by creating an atmosphere for everyone to give their best
