A vegan lifestyle has to become more worldwide in order to save as many
animals as possible and to mitigate the negative effects of the emission of
gases on the environment and on human health.

It is evident that the consumption of meat around the world is at a critical state, and
continues rising as the years go by. Consequently, humans keep inducing negativities into their
environment as well as endangering the lives of animals around them. It has already been
established that the rising levels of meat consumption around the globe will lead to a devastation
of our environment. To address the challenge, this paper gives an argument suggesting that; to
ensure the salvation of as many animals, in the world, as possible, and to ensure the mitigation of
the negative effects caused by the emission of gases on the health of humans and the
environment, a vegan lifestyle has to be more worldwide.
Veganism to Save Animals

According to King (2005), it has been established that, on average, individuals who eat
meat can consume 7000 animals within their lifetimes. It is argued that, reduction of animal
consumption by humans means more than just keeping the animals that are eaten alive. Animal
eating goes to the extend of preventing those animals that would have been born into this world
from being born. Based on the arguments of King (2005), it is clear that a very huge percentage
of animals that ever exist on earth end up suffering in human factory firms for their products. To
ease the suffering that animals go through on earth, Harvard Health (2018) provides an
alternative. It is suggested that humans could have healthy meals without necessarily depending
on animal products.With a good understanding of a vegetarian life, individuals have the ability of
living healthy lives and getting all body necessities from plants.
Havard (2018) clarifies that, certain vegetables are rich supplies of vitamins, for example;
broccoli, Chinese cabbage, kales and bok Chay. Individuals should, however, be careful with

some other sources such as Swiss chard and spinach, which have oxalates that hinders the
absorption of calcium into the body. Additionally, based on the risk factors related to a
vegetarian lifestyle, some fortified foods would be very essential in their diets. This would
include, for instance; rice milk, breakfast cereals, soy milk and organic orange juice.
Supplements of vitamin D could also be considered. To cater for their protein needs, vegans
could consider a variety of sources including; beans, peas, chickpeas and whole grains. Knowing
that a vegan lifestyle could be efficient for any humans, and shifting towards it, humans would
be able to save the lives of more than 150 million animals that are killed each day, around the
world, to supply the needs of humans. Zampa (n.d) has determined that, around 56 billion land
animals suffer the consequences of human consumption every year, in the United States alone. A
good example is the approximate 9 billion Chicken that are hatched, in the United States, every
year, with the aim of them getting to consumption size, and they are consequently consumed.

Veganism to Mitigate environment effects

According to Vegan Outreach (n.d.), various reports have established that a vegan diet is
highly related, and has great potential of reducing greenhouse emissions. Considering an issue
like the emission of Greenhouse gases, it has been established that a major shift towards diets
that are plant based would result in the reduction of the emissions. By the year 2050, an
estimated reduction of 80% should be anticipated if the shift is achieved. Other environmental
effects would also be eliminated, for instance, the effects on water, land, and overall
environmental pollution. The impossible sustainability of animal based diets should, therefore be

single animal reared by humans is also specifically worrying. Based on a good research, it has
been established that a single cow could produce an amount of waste equivalent to the waste
produced by 160 humans. Himalayan Academy (2017), has, also, affirmed that the raising of
animals leads to the drastic use of land and water sources, this includes the amount of water used
to grow plants for feeding the animals. A huge amount of space is also normally required for
grazing the animals. In approximate, 80% of agricultural land in the world is under a livestock
keeping. Vega Outreach (n.d.) suggests that the agricultural water use of up to 50% could be
saved if a vegan lifestyle is embraced.

skin, prevents vigorous migraine attacks, establishes the basis of hormonal balance and leads to
longevity, whereby, vegans live a generally healthier and longer life.
Possible Negatives of the Vegan Lifestyle

Sadly, vegans may suffer consequences emanating from the lack of meat in their diet.
The plant-based or vegan diet lacks enough nutritional value for the human body. According to
Araki (2017), meat has the ability, due to its high protein and low fat levels, to stabilize blood
sugar, which consequently prevents the occurrence of type 2 diabetes. Additionally, vegans
might be exposed to neurotransmitter imbalance due to the absence of meat in their diet.
