people while administering care to them. As much as there exist various internal and external
threats to the health of the clients, nurses ensure they protect the patients from the risks related to
inadequate provision of medical care delivered by other health professionals. To protect the
rights of patients, they establish the origin of the conditions which might involve the disease
history, lack of enough defensive power together with insufficient knowledge about the illness.
In cases when doctor’s diagnosis is complicated for the patients, nurses translate it to them and
give answers to their questions to ease the tension. More so, nurses promote patient advocacy
even after discharging them by communicating with social workers and case managers about the
necessary measures needed to promote health of patients while at home and speed the recovery
process (Winston, 2012).
In recent trends, hospitals are offering training and education to their clients on ways they
should manage their present condition to improve the quality of their lives. Nurses are getting

that will be effective and those that makes patients feel better between treatments or give them

In summary, patient advocacy is an aspect that can be evaluated as a social issue from
professional and personal views. Majorly, it involves protecting patients and being empathetic to
them while providing care. Nurses are the dominant care givers of health thus they are the
advocates of patients and when they create a great relationship with client’s it becomes easy for
them to improve the quality of life for the community. Team work, collaboration and
communication are other great influencers that ensure patients receive advocacy at all levels
while they are in hospital. Primarily, patient advocate is aimed to create an environment that is
safe and reliable towards the client’s recovery. In a facility that prioritizes the care of patients, it
will be easy for nurses to conduct their practices and promote patient advocacy throughout the
period. As for the future implication of patient advocacy, nurses ought to keep the entire of
health care providers informed on the condition the client has, teach patients how they can
advocate for themselves and prevent family interventions that put the client at risk or endangers
